Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. But, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure features a hero that is literally a turd attempting to make its way to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: just use a single jump button. Across 150 levels, battle boss fights and unlock a market to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your movements with caution, since one wrong move requires beginning again. Bounce off bubbles to propel yourself to new heights, traverse crumbling ledges, and activate buttons to reveal new areas. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase challenging stages in which things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the game shows off vibrant stages and a killer background music. The simple art featuring morphing basic polygons evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though hard to name other games where you play as a coiled turd, video games often incorporated toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as plant food. And of course, fecal references shows up extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on Steam this November.
